Privacy
Hide in the Crowd is a party game played in a web browser. This page explains what it does with information. Last updated 19 October 2026.
What we collect
- The name you type. It is shown to the other players in your room. Don't use your full name or anything private. Public games give you a random nickname instead.
- Game results. When a game finishes we keep the room code, map, mode, number of players and the winner's nickname and score. We don't link this to a real identity.
- No accounts, no chat. You don't sign up to play, and there is no chat or messaging between players.
- On your device. Your browser stores your last name, a code that lets you rejoin a game after a dropout, and an anonymous id used only to check whether you have Premium. Clearing your browser's site data removes these.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting records technical details such as IP address and page requests for security and troubleshooting.
Ads
The free game shows ads served by Google AdSense. We ask Google to show non-personalised ads only. Google may still use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure ads; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Premium removes ads.
Premium
Premium is handled by RevenueCat and its payment provider. We only learn whether the anonymous id on your device has an active subscription. We don't see your payment details.
Links to join a game
To make short join links we send the join address of your room (it contains the four-letter room code, nothing about you) to the is.gd link-shortening service.
Children
The game is designed to be played in groups such as youth groups. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the nickname they type, and ads are set to non-personalised. Hosts and parents are welcome to ask us to remove anything.
Sharing
We don't sell information. It is shared only with the services described above, which operate it on our behalf.
